Born in Xi’an, China, Zuo Qilin graduated from The Xi’an Fine Art Institute in 2004 and is one of the potential Chinese artists of the 80s generation. He received the Dragonair Emerging Chinese Artist Award in 2006 and was selected for Honorable Mention in the ‘Inward Gazes’ of Macao Museum of Art in 2005. Qilin has participated in various group exhibitions in China, Macau and Hamburg, Germany. He had his solo exhibition at the 798 Art District in Beijing, China this year. Being the only child of the family of this generation in China, Qilin expresses alienation and uncertainty about oneself living in an intense and fast-changing world through his paintings, leading the viewer to experience an emotional sensation of the artist between reality and imaginary.
